Marcos: For my book assignment I chose to read a book called The Stars Beneath Our Feet written by David Barclay Moore. This book is about a boy named Wallace, but a lot of people call him Lolly. When Wallace’s older brother (Jermaine) had recently died in a night club at the bronx, Lolly couldn’t get over the fact that his brother was dead, until his mom's girlfriend had brought Lolly to bags filled with Legos. That was the only thing that had made Lolly forget about everything that was going on in the real world and started to focus about what was going on in his head building Legos. Throughout the book Lolly has some pretty big problems to deal with so to keep his mind off of it he just keeps building and building from the other bags that his mom's girlfriend gives him every month. If I were to compare the book's world to my world, then I would compare to building in the process of reading this book because when I’m building I like for every piece in the Lego set to be exactly like the blueprints, just like Lolly. Not that I can only focus on what I’m doing and not anything else, but I can identify the making of the set to seeing that everything is in place. |
