Rachael: The setting of Persepolis (by Marjane Strapi) is in Iran during the time when there was a dictator, war, strict rules, and bombings. People were being arrested and killed for doing things that are normal in America. The main character’s school switched from a French non-religious school to a women-only school where they had to wear veils. Also, during the war, her uncle told her stories about torture and killings that happened while he was in jail. |
