Cole: For my summer reading I read Ghost by Jason Reynolds. The book is about a kid in middle school named Castle Cranshaw. There are a couple different settings in the book, but one of the main ones is Castle's home. Throughout the book he kept mentioning how his father had tried to shoot him and his mother, and how it was hard to live in the same house because of all the bad memories. He says in the book that he and his mother sleep in the living room because they are too afraid to sleep in their own rooms. Another setting in the book is the school. This setting is significant because one of the reasons he started running track is because he was bullied at school for being in a poor living situation. He hated school for this reason, and running was one of the only things that made him feel better. |
