Isabel: The setting of Beautiful Creatures (by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl) is the small southern town of Gatlin, South Carolina. The narrator describes it as a place where nothing changes, there are no surprises there, and everyone knows everyone. The fictional town of Gatlin seems to be stuck in the ways and teachings of a small stereotypical Southern town. An example of this would be the community calling Lena a witch and singling her out because of who she was related to. The narrator says also explains that that Gatlin is pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere. The girl I mentioned in the previous sentience (Lina) is the narrator's somewhat girlfriend. She is the niece of the town's shut-in, Macon. M Ravenwood. It also doesn't help that she is running out of time before the claiming. |
