Xyara: At first I thought that the book The Wicked King by Holly Black was really good, and I still think that, because the characters had great character developments and overall it was just a good book. However, I notice that the author named the first two book titles after the antagonist (kinda) Cardan. For instance, the first book was named The Cruel Prince, literally meaning that Cardan was a prince and a cruel one. In the second one, The Wicked King, Cardan took the place as the king. At first I didn't see the connections; he had changed, became more thoughtful of his actions. That was until he banned Jude, the protagonist, from the Elfhame right after Jude married him. Which yes, is maybe fair since she murdered his brother, but in her defense said brother came at us and it was kind of an accident. But in doing so Jude thought of him terribly, because in her eyes he betrayed her. So basically what I found in reading these is that the titles tie in to the books' main plot. |
